Our February Burger Night at the Club

On February 6, 2024, about 155 members gathered at the Tohono Ballroom for the February burger night.  Members enjoyed the chance to catch up with each other and share a meal.  Members were welcomed at the door by club management and the early returns on the event from members was positive.  Here are a few snaps taken of members enjoying each others company.

BMAC kicks off 2024 with its fourth sell out "Burger Night"

114 members came out after the holidays to gather, socialize, and catch up at Local Jonny's on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.  Sandy Hyde and Mindy Gordon once again put together a great night for members.  After dinner, one of the most challenging trivia nights yet happened.  The questions all focused on the local area and Arizona.  A few additional adult beverages were necessary to help with the answers.   Here are some snaps of our members enjoying the moment.

BMAC Concludes 2023 with its third sell out "Holiday Member Mixer"

Over 110 members braved the elements to enjoy the final "Holiday Member Mixer" at Local Jonny's on December 19th.  The food was great. The adult and other beverages were free flowing.  Everyone was in a jolly mood.   What made this get-together different was Trivia night.  The team of the Gauss's, Steve Sanborn, the Dawsons, David Johnston, the Stewarts, and the Gordons walked away the winners.  For those of you who could not make it, here is a sample of the trivia questions.  How do you say Merry Christman in Hawaii?  Answer below.  Here are a few pictures to remember the evening by.  Look for an announcement after January 1st about the January events.
The answer to the trivia question was Mele Kalikimaka.  Also, the picture in the bottom right corner is two of Santa's best elves.  Mindy Gordon and Sandy Hyde.  They are the ones responsible for good times for members.  Based on the last three events, Santa will be good to them this year!

Divine 9's Celebrate the Holidays!

The Divine 9s Holiday Party was a huge success with over 70 members in attendance.   The theme was Our Favorite Things.  Our favorite things include great friends, lots of laughs, delicious food and drinks, and donating to the Desert Foothills Foodbank.  We concluded with a gift exchange of our favorite things and an exuberant rendition of ‘My Favorite Divine 9 Things’ written by Sandy Slaughter.  We can’t thank Sandy enough for hosting this event at her beautiful new home.  Check out the video below!

BWGA Annual Holiday Party!

The BWGA held its annual Holiday Party on December 5, 2023.  The party was held at Kathye Browne and Craig Starkey's beautiful home.  The reindeer all lit up with luminaries lining the driveway welcomed over 80 women for a night of fun, and the way to start celebrating the holidays.  Here are some pictures from Tom Dusel to remind you of the great time everyone had.

Members Serve our Crews that take care of us!

Last Saturday, four members decided to serve breakfast to all the Boulders crews that serve us day in and day out.  Led by Dan Bode, members Mark Warnquist, Nate Hyde, and David Levin all dedicated their Saturday morning.  They made breakfast and delivered it to the outside grounds crew, the inside pro shop crew, the spa team, the tennis facility workers, the guardhouses, and even the kitchen helpers!  It was well received and the Boulders team appreciated the effort and breakfast.  Here are some pictures memorializing the event.

Mulligans Serve and Give Back!

On December 17, 2023, this band of "brothers" spent the afternoon serving up hot meals at St Vincent's de Paul Sunnyslope Kitchen.  Left to right is Rick, President Walter, O'Neill (the organizer), Glorida (manager), Milan, Chuck (reg volunteer), Rex (reg volunteer), Craig and Bud.  The next opportunity to help out will be December 8th.  Please sign up with O'Neill at [email protected].

BMAC Sponsors Second "Hamburger Night!"

On November 14, 2023, 125 plus members gathered at Local Jonny's in Cave Creek for the second "Hamburger Night!"  It was another great evening of good food, nice adult beverages and plenty of conversation and mingling of the members.  A big shout out to BMAC members Sandy Hyde and Mindy Gordon for their efforts in organizing and running this event.  If you missed the first one in October or last night, don't worry, our crack social planners are organizing another one for December 19th.  More details will be forthcoming but circle that date on your calendar now.

Boulders Members Sponsor Hug Fest

On October 29, 2023, a small group of Boulders Members sponsored the first Hug Fest at the North Pool.  Members who lived here during the 54-day spell this summer when temperatures exceeded 110 degrees had come up with the idea.  They spread the word to other summer residents but since it was not a club event, had no database to send out invitations to all.  For the event, Members were asked to bring an appetizer to share with their friends.  They were also asked to bring their own adult and other beverages.  The crowd gathered at sunset and three hours later, the conversation was still flowing.  A great evening was had by all.  Here are some snaps of the evening.  Over 120 members attended.  Thank you to those who put it together.

BMAC Sponsors a "Hamburger Night!"

On October 17, 2023, BMAC sponsored a very successful member burger night hosted at Local Jonny’s in Cave Creek. BMAC members Mindy Gordon and Sandy Hyde, working with Jenny Murray, did the planning and execution for this event. There were 100 people in attendance. Initially, it was oversubscribed but due to some cancellations, we were able to have everyone on the wait list invited.  The food, service, and live music were a big hit. Boulders members were very happy to get together in anticipation of the upcoming season.  BMAC is planning the next one for November 14th at Local Jonny’s again.  Be on the lookout for the invite.  We encourage members to sign up as quickly as possible due to the high interest shown for the October event.

Here are some pictures of members enjoying each others company.

The First Annual Carefree Cup Goes to the Thack Attack

On September 28th and 29th, two Boulders men, wanting to duplicate the spirit of the Ryder Cup, put together the Carefree Cup.  Ron Thackery, captained the Thack Attack team of Greg Moorhead, Art Torosian, Dave Griffiths, John Karam, Dave Rosesch, Fumiomi Takeda, and Tom Dusel.  Stewart Loewestein captained the Stewballs.  His team had Guy Steinbrink, Chris Jordan, Greg Boyer, Hud Staffield, Scott Bradley, Scott Pursley, and Matt Lobas.  Here are both teams before the first ball was hit.

Like the real Ryder Cup, the teams played the first day six holes of two-man shamble, six holes of alternate shot and six holes of a scramble.  At the end of the first day, Team Thack Attack held a one point lead.
Coach Loewenstein had a team meeting and got his team focused for the second-day event.  Here, it was two nine-hole matches between the members of the two teams.  Before the final foursome came in, Coach Loewenstein had his team poised for victory.  They were up by three points with four points riding on the last two matches.  David Griffiths and Dave Roesch brought home the bacon and delivered to Coach Thackery all four points allowing his team to walk away with the first Carefree Cup.  Here is a picture of the winning team, a picture of the two coaches passing the trophy for the first time, and finally, a picture of the team enjoying the moment with some liquid refreshment.

After some time celebrating their victory and thinking of the putts that should have gone in, the men watched the sunset for a fantastic two days.  The coaches are already planning to expand the teams for next year.  A great example of how members can run their own tournaments and enjoy each other's company.
